Midnight Munchies....

You probably didn't know this, but I work as a night auditor which means that I start my shift late at night and I finish early the next morning. I am constantly looking for ways to keep myself awake. I find that munching on light snacks and drinking helps me to stay awake. Lately I have been eating Organic Banana Chips that I recently discovered at Trader Joe's. The banana chips are not too sweet and does not contain a large amount of sugar. Because I am munching during the night, I want to make sure that I am also not packing on the pounds! Trader Joe's organic banana chips are both healthy and delicious! I also need to stay hydrated while I am at work. I heard that drinking water moistens your brain, but I need more than just water to keep me awake from 11PM-7AM, so I turn to Trader Joe's Blueberry & Pomegranate Green Tea (unsweetened). It is bland and has an acquired taste. The blueberry and pomegranate are recessive flavors to the green tea. I am not a coffee drinker because it makes me too hyper to the point where I cannot function, therefore; I turn to green tea to help me wake up. Green tea is known to help with weight loss; this makes me feel better about munching late at night.
Staying beautiful means taking care of your body. Exercise + Healthy Dieting = Sexy 4 Life! LOL
Just kidding, but its great for you! Sleeeeeeep! I am forced to deprive myself of sleep at least 2-3 times a week because of my crazy work schedule, but I do make lots of time for my body to rest and recuperate on my days off of work.

Lucaya Properties

On July 26th I had to call maintenance because the water in my shower and toilet overflowed onto my floor. It took five hours for maintenance to resolve the issue. They had to de-clog the toilet and shower using a "snake," or at least that's what they called it. Anyways, after they had finished the job, I noticed that my water smelled like sewer. I gave it some weeks to see if the odor would subside over time. So, yes as crazy as it may seem, I did bathe in the water and I had to use it for other needs as well. I really did not want to have to call maintenance due to the issue because it took them five hours just to de-clog my toilet.
This morning I went to take a shower, and the water still smelled like shit. When I got out of the shower I noticed a red rash on the center of my stomach. I was furious and called the rental office and requested for maintenance right away. The woman whom I spoke with was not very nice and by her tone of voice it sounded as if she thought I was lying. She contacted maintenance and told me that they would stop by; she continued on to say "Just to let you know, everyone who lives in your complex uses the same water, and we have had no complaints from any other tenants." Well....All the other tenants live above ground, and none of them had to have maintenance de-clog their toilet and shower! --That is what I should've said, but I was so angry at the time that I just said ok and waited for maintenance.
It was 12PM when I called to request for maintenance; I waited around until 2PM until I called the rental office to get an update on when maintenance would be arriving. The woman said that maintenance had been by twice to deal with the issue, but my gate was locked. ~DOh...MY bad!
BUT they should have contacted me! The lady told me that the maintenance did not call me because he does not have any numbers to tenants. The lady obviously has my number, she could have called me after maintenance notified her that my gate was locked. She continued to explain that she could put in a work order and have him come by tomorrow because he had already left. I told her about the rash that I had developed and I also explained that I had not been using any new body washes or beauty products, and that I think it is a reaction to the water. I guess that was not enough for the lady to re-contact maintenance to have him fix the issue. I hate where I live and I hate how the people who run this place think. They don't care about any issues you have, they're all about the money.
LUCAYA APARTMENT and any apartment complexes owned by them is shit. When it rains, my kitchen floods, and I only have one window to open in the apartment, but unfortunately, outside the window is a nest to poisonous spiders like black widows!! I am ecstatic about moving into my new apartment on the 28th! I will never deal with these people again. They will probably take me to court because they want to charge me the lease termination fee. This apartment also gives me a great deal of claustrophobia, to the point where often times I must step outside of the apartment just to catch my breathe. I had previously explained this to the rental lady at the office, and she offered to move me into another apartment, but the rent was more expensive and I could not afford it.
So angry at them right now.......

The Chocolate Cafe and Bakery of Albuquerque has closed :( ....

At approximately 7:30AM every Wednesday and Thursday morning my girlfriend would pick me up from work and we would make our way to the Chocolate Cafe and Bakery. We were addicted to their delicious green chile burritos, chocolate desserts, and welcoming atmosphere.
On this particular morning we were greeted by the sign that explained that they were closed due to economical reasons. It is so sad to see this happen to local businesses. I wish there was something that I could do to help, but unfortunately I have my own financial burdens.

This incident goes to show how the economy is affecting peoples' lives. It breaks my heart to see local businesses closing down due to the economical situation. Although we are going through unfortunate economical times, there is still much to be thankful for. Now that many people don't have the luxury of doing the things they did before such as, going to the movies or dining out, we can focus more on what really matters. Instead of the movies, how about a night at home with the kids; perhaps preparing a meal together or going on a family picnic.

I believe that it is always important to stay positive as much as possible, especially during hard times. There is always something to be learned in every situation. Make yourself open to new experiences and engage in new relationships. Let us take time to appreciate all that there is to appreciate, and be happy for others and ourselves. Drive yourself away from negativity as much as possible. Let everything you say be positive and you will see a change in yourself and the way you perceive things.

Best wishes and all my love....

Hiking in Jemez

Take in the beautiful scenery of the Jemez mountains of New Mexico....
I spend most of my time in the city of Albuquerque so I don't get to see much greenery. It was a fun day that I spent with my girlfriend and friends. It was like a breath of fresh air to get out in the wilderness. I miss the ocean a lot, but this is as close as I will get; living here in Albuquerque. I am so thankful for nature! It sets a vibe that is so innocent and natural. I enjoy the smell of the soil, watching the trees sway, feeling the wind in my hair, and the sun on my skin....Ahhh bliss...

As we were hiking down to the river, we did not see many people until we came to the major swimming area. There were many people jumping off the ledges of the cliffs and into the ponds of water. It was a thrill to watch! The space between the ledges on each side of the water was very narrow. The ledges were at least fifty feet tall. There were many brave people who jumped off the ledges and into the water. Some people even did back-flips and other tricks while in the air before landing in the water. It was infested with people!! So many that it reminded me of ants crawling on a rock. And, No I did not jump off the ledge into the water :) The amount of people that were present was enough to overwhelm me.

The hike down to the water was amazing, but not as amazing as the hike back up! It was killer and a great workout! Working out does not have to be limited to the gym, you can use the world around you! God blessed many of us with functional limbs and many senses. It is always good to escape the city and be with nature to exercise your body and senses. Overall, I had a wonderful time that I am so grateful for. I feel so blessed to have a working body and genuine people to enjoy life with.

Get out and discover our world!! If you come to New Mexico, it is a must see!
